10/12/2022 The Big House – There just may be a reason to quit…

October 12, 2022

WHEN: 10/12/2022
QIC: Quint
PAX: PaperJam, Germ, DeWater, Mary Mark, Chum, Zook, Duplo, Quint
ME HEADCOUNT: 8

YHC was volunteered to Q the Big House this week since Churham’s Burpee Challenge month. This was my first Big House attendance of any sort and it made a great hump day start of it.

After an extended WARMARAMA which included Chum’s recommended Flutter Kicks we set off to the BC courtyard at the Club House for some station work.

Set in each of the 4 corners of the courtyard was a jump rope and a sheet of paper with 3 exercises listed. PAX partnered up and picked a corner to start. When PAX completed stated exercises we rotated to the next corner. Repeat until all corner exercises were complete.
The exercises were….
Corner 1
10 Burpees
20 SSH (IC)
40 Jump Rope (SC)

Corner 2
10 Monkey Humpers (IC)
20 Air Press (IC)
40 Jump Rope (SC)

Corner 3
15 Wide Merkins
20 Jump Squats
40 Jump Rope (SC)

Corner 4
15 Ranger Merkins
10 Mountain Climbers (IC)
40 Jump Rope (SC)

Next we moseyed back up to the parking lot where agility cones were waiting for us. 1 of 4 examples is below (assuming the image upload works…) . PAX ran agility circuits until 0555. I’ll post to the Big House home page also.

I’ve heard it said before by a PAX “that anything worth doing once is worth doing again”. – so we headed back down to the courtyard to run our corner exercise circuit again.

Time to wrap up is approaching, so back to the AO for Mary Ring of Fire for 6 of 8 PAX. We ended strong with the Duplo Hammy Stretch.

COT –

I was listening to a PodCast, on the drive over to the Big House, where Annie Duke, former pro poker player and author of Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away, was being interviewed by Brett McKay (Art of Manliness, Host) . I thought it timely was to remind the PAX that the old mantra “Quitters never win and winners never quit!” Does not apply to all circumstances, habits, jobs, relationships, etc. Check it out! She further discusses defining ‘kill criteria’ to give yourself a timetable for when you should abandon a particular pursuit.

It was a pleasure to Q The Big House today – thanks for having me gents!

Aye!
