For the month of thanksgiving and a new playlist of thanksgiving songs, I have a turkey inspired themed workout for the Low Tempo Group.
The Thang: Mosey over to the blocks for circuit work spelling out the word T-U-R-K-E-Y
One minute each and then switch- we did two complete circuits
T- Toe taps on cone
U- Up and down agility ladder
R- Run up and down steps
K- Kicks near stairs
E- Elevated homers on steps
Y- Y merkins or hand-release merkins making Y shape
The PAX were asked if they preferred turkey or sides. The group was divided based on their choices into team turkey and team sides for the next rounds of team competitions.
Over to ball work- 15 overhead claps with the butterballs and rinsed and repeated until shoulders were well done
Every good Thanksgiving or family gathering ends up in a food fight over masks or politics so we ended our turkey day with a ball food fight. Team turkey was the targets originally where if they got hit by a ball, they had to do a burpee but if the team sides missed on the toss, they had to do a burpee.
Circle and pass the turkey- in a low squat hold weighted turkey balls were passed around in a circle, the distances between the PAX slowly increased and we switched directions passing the turkeys. Any dropped weights resulted in 1 penalty burpees.
For the high tempo group: Amrap circuit work. Pax would complete 45 seconds on and 15 seconds of rest followed by running a lap with the lap times getting faster each round. The exercises were
Merkins, V-ups, Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, LBCs, Homer to Marge, Up/downs, J-Los and Side Squats.
COT: Please sign up for the Habitat for Humanity build coming up this Saturday. No experience or tools are required, just a good attitude and a willingness to help. Remember that the people that will be owning this home will be helping you build it. It truly is a rewarding experience.
Finally, as families gather for Thanksgiving, please remember to keep the FUN in your DYSFUNCTIONAL families. Try to enjoy each other and don’t let fights over masks or politics keep you from enjoying a meal and some laughter together.
