After a stormy night, the rains had finally ceased. YHC showed up a few minutes early to scout out the premises. Felt a little bit like Joshua as he snuck into the city of Jericho to spy. However, there was no Rahab around to hide me. If you don”t get the reference, continue to read for a history lesson. 7 PAX would arrive to cross the Orange County Line. Here”s how it went down.
Warm-Up:
- SSH x20 and Seal Claps x20
- Windmills x12
- Hill Billies x12
- Merkins x15
- Burp Jacks x10
- Crab Jacks x10
The Thang:
Time for your history lesson. In the book of Joshua Chapter 6, the Lord delivers the city of Jericho to the Israelites. The people of Jericho hid inside the city walls, thinking that their walls would save them from the Lord”s army. The Israelites were instructed to march around the city once for each of the first six days, and then on the seventh day march around the city seven times. At the end of the seventh circuit, the walls of Jericho came crumbling down, and the Israelites were able to enter the city.
With the walls of Jericho having been obliterated 1000s of years ago, it was time to knock down the bricks and mortar of Rashkis Elementary. The plan is to run around the school 7 times and completing 7 reps of 7 exercises prior to each lap. The PAX could run the laps at their own pace, but all reps were to be done as a PAX. YHC felt like it was very fitting that we had 7 PAX post for the exercise. Here”s a breakdown of the 7 exercises:
- Wide Grip Merkins
- Diamond Merikins
- Overhead press w/ coupon
- Lunges w/ coupon
- Bent-over row w/ coupon
- Goblet squats w/ coupon
- Burpees
We were running out of time so after the 6th circuit of exercises YHC instructed the PAX to run 2 laps so they could obtain all 7 laps. Fortunately, the walls of Rashkis Elementary did not come crumbling down afterwards.
COT:
- 2nd F tonight at 6:30 at Hope Valley Bar and Grill
- June 3rd at Pink”s place
Moleskin:
I think we were all disappointed to not have finished the workout as it was originally constructed. Slumdog brought up a good point that we could have hit 14 of the exercises before running the two laps. We did run several minutes over and I wanted to respect everyone”s time. The distance around the school played a factor, so choosing a location with a 1/4 mile track may be more ideal. Thinking I could have shortened the warm-up down to SSH, Windmill, and Merkins. Nevertheless, thought it was a tough workout that pushed the body in several different ways.
