QIC: Shake It
PAX: Shake It, Sweats, Beano, Kia, Peppermint Patty, Nickelback, Screech, Funny Money, and Slow Pitch

3 PAX (Shake It, Sweats, and Beano) took on a Tabata style EC with KBs. If you are not familiar, it”s 20 seconds of an exercise followed by a 10 second break and you do 8 consecutive rounds of the exercise. We conquered swings, goblet squats, overhead press, lunges, and bent over rows in the 30 minute time frame. YHC really enjoyed the Tabata music.
YHC was totally cooked after the Tabata, but pushed through the pain to Q the workout. 9 PAX total would show up in the drizzle for the main event.
Warm-Up:

  • SSH x20 in cadence
  • Imperial Walkers x10 in cadence
  • Willie Mayes Hayes x10 in cadence
  • Merkin Medley: Standard x10, Wide grip x10, diamond grip x10, slow merkins x10, fingertip merkins x10

The Thang:
Mosey over to the hill across the street. Backwards run up the hill. At the top perform 20 prison squats in cadence. and then perform an ATM. ATMs are 15 Alternating Shoulder Taps CC, 10 Tempo Merkins, and 10 Fast Merkins completed while staying in the plank position.
Time for a set of 7”s on the hill. Start with 6 jump squats at the top of the hill and 1 burpee at the bottom of the hill by the stop sign. Jump squats decrease while burpees increase with the total exercises always being 7. The PAX were really pushing it hard on the hill. Shoutout to Peppermint Patty who was pushing Sweats and Beano at the front of the pack.
Mosey back to Forest Hills Park for some fun on the tennis court. PAX broke into groups of 3 to complete the following exercises:

  • 50 donkey kicks
  • 100 jump lunges
  • 200 tuck jumps

While 1 member is completing the exercise, a 2nd member is holding a plank, and the 3rd member is backwards running to the end of the tennis court and then sprinting back to tag out. As groups finished they held a people”s chair against the fence. Once all PAX were holding a people”s chair, we did a 10 count down the line. Since we were already adjacent to the fence, YHC had the PAX complete 10 bulgarian split squats on each leg.
With our time quickly coming to a close, YHC lead the PAX to the playground to complete Mary. YHC decided to spoil everyone by letting our sixes rest on the cushioned surface of the playground.

Quick personal note here. YHC is grateful to be able to Q the Big Dance for the first time. This is a site YHC tries to attend a couple of times a month, and is really impressed with what Sweats has done at the site. Slow Pitch also shared with YHC and Nickelback his desire to Q in the near future. All who haven”t taken on the challenge should strongly consider putting themselves on the Q sheet. It”s definitely nerve wracking the first time you do it, but Qing is a natural progression of developing leadership.
