2F at Mattie B”s:
Lights, Fanfare, 30+ F3 PAX and confetti thrown by the wait staff…..and that”s the naked-man moleskin about this event. Warning: I”ve browsed our F3nation lexicon which is hilarious.
As the sole PAX to attend last Thursday”s event at Mattie B”s (no fartsacking here), I represented us fairly well. The host graciously offered me a table despite seeing my lone self walk through the door. I opted for a seat at the industrial-style kitchen/bar where you”re so close to the kitchen you can practically make your own food. I appreciated the atmosphere and company of a potential FIA while having access to seeing two TV”s behind the bar, about 3 TV”s posted around the dining area and a large projection screen showing the UNC game.
My bartender was a mensch and gave me a rundown on the craft brews on-tap and the list of bottled beers & wines was more than enough for a gastropub. The food menu was broader than I was expecting, with variations on home-made chips and any imaginable style of pizza your heart could desire. I opted for one of the 6-or-so burger options to try something classic. Burger was cooked to perfection and my chips were delectable.
The restaurant was pretty steady, with some patrons ordering food to go, so I took that as a sign the food is generally pretty good. I didn”t check out the bathrooms, so don”t ask. Although I”ve not been to Sam”s across the street, Mattie B”s seems like a place that could accommodate us, or at least one of us. No spontaneous burpees this time around, but I”ll think about it for the next go.
