The 6th and final day of the 2017 Kick(ass) Starter Challenge was, appropriately, a snow day. The 6 committed pax didn”t let few flakes or winter storms hold them back. Welcome to Eddie the Eagle”s winter carnival.
EC: All 6 pax heeded Spooky”s PSA about not driving and rucked, walked and/or ran to the site.
Warmup: After a quick consensus that the parking deck was preferable to the desolate tundra, we circled up for:
30 SSSA”s (side shuffle snow angels)
10 forward and 10 reverse arm circles
20 imperial snow walkers
20 Willie Mays Hayes
20 merkins.
Next, three laps around the garage with the second lap done first half a right-sideways shuffle and second half left-sideways shuffle.
Olympic Ski Jumper Training: Introducing the “Leg Blaster” from the Mountain Athlete Ski Gym in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We started off with the “Mini-Blaster”:
10x Air Squats
5x In-Place Lunges (5x each leg, 10x total)
5x Jumping Lunges (5x each leg, 10x total)
5x Jump Squats
Repeat for 10 sets with a 10-count between each set. And yes, it was as tedious as it sounds.
Enough with the legs: Next up, arms and core.
3 PAX did the “Polar Bear Crawl” (5 paces crawl, then a Merkin, repeat) across the garage. Other 3 PAX did Merkins. Switch places for another round of same.
Regular bear crawl out, 10 polar bear burpees (yup, a real thing) sprint back… waiting PAX did People”s Chair Lift
Bear crawl out, 20 WWII”s, sprint back. Waiting PAX did LBCs.
Partner up for 2 sets x 10 pull-ups/assisted pull-ups
Mary:
30x Flutter Kick – Homes
20x J-Lo Slaloms – Moore
20x Ski-Abs – Bogie
Closing prayer. Thanks to the PAX who did the challenge for no reason other than because they said they would. Well done.
Excellent first Q from Eddie, and great job throwing down a challenge to get everyone motivated to start 2017 off right.
