Cool rain didn”t scare 25 men away from a phenomenal start to 2017. The Thicket gang made a road trip up 15/501 to join a special 1-hour episode of Pleasantville, which also happened to be episode 1 of 6 of Eddie the Eagle”s Kick Start 2017 Challenge. Here”s what we did:
EC Ruck: Eight pax came out for some extra credit, and Adolphus doesn”t dole out extra credit lightly. Head to the parking garage, drop the ruck sacks, and warm up with some SSH, seal jacks, mountain climbers, arm circles, and pull-ups. Ruck sacks back on for some squats, then out into the ”hood for a 1.3-mile hike. Luckily when we got back we still had a few minutes for some weighted step-ups, dips and erkins.
COP (Yanni): 20 SSH, 17 imperial walkers, 20 arm circles, 17 Willie Mays Hayes, 20 merkins, 17 burpees.
Head to the parking garage with Yanni for some fun. Split into 2 groups. Group 1, bear crawl to the other side and run back while group 2 does BTW. Switch, repeat. Group 1, crab walk to the other side and run back while group 2 sits in the people”s chair. Switch, repeat. Group 1, lunge walk to the other side and run back while group 2 does BTW mountain climbers (that”s right, BTW mountain climbers). Switch, repeat.
Marky Mark was up next for a pyramid of pull-ups, merkins, and squats. The ascent was 2/3/4, 4/6/8, 6/9/12, 8/12/16. Run a lap, then back down with 8/12/16, 6/9/12, 4/6/8, and 2/3/4.
Spooky”s turn. Exit the parking garage for a lap, stop along the way for about a thousand dips and derkins. Back to the garage for some four corners. Split into 4 groups, pick a corner, and do whatever Spooky wrote on the ground. Corners were 30 mountain climbers, 20 merkins, 30 jump squats, and 20 lunges. Bear crawl to the cone in the middle for 10 burpees. On to the next corner. Repeat, but second time around lunge walk to the middle, and no burpees required.
Follow Spooky to the other parking garage for some fun with tennis balls. Team 1 versus team 2 first, with teams 3 and 4 watching from the people”s chair. Bear crawl to your bucket, pick up a tennis ball, run back to the middle, bounce the ball into a box. Other team does burpees and squats for each ball that made it into a box. Then team 3 against team 4, with teams 1 and 2 watching from the people”s chair.
