YHC has been pleased with the response to the Fat A$$ Challenge that he launched in March. Sixteen hearty, portly souls signed up for some accountability in the form of weekly weigh-ins, in hopes of slimming down and maybe winning some cash.

YHC was significantly less pleased to step on the scale on Friday to find he had, in five days, somehow gained back 9 – NINE!!! – of the 11 pounds lost over six weeks.

What ensued was a veritable orgy of not eating and cursing my genes. Noticed Saturday night that The Eagle Q sheet was open for today. Figured no better way to keep my discipline on Sunday than to sign up to Q prior to the Monday weigh-in.

Was pleased to be joined by Bellhop, Pikachu, Loonie and Avalanche for an EC ruck. Great to talk hockey with Loonie, who you may know is an honest-to-goodness Canadian. They know a thing or two about the sport up there. YHC can’t even ice skate, but feels he can hold his own in hockey mumblechatter after 20 years of being a die-hard Canes fan.

Got back with a couple of minutes to get our rucks off and get ready for the ME. Props to Red October for lending his Fitbit when YHC had a watch malfunction last minute. (Brick noted that Wardrobe Malfunction is an F3 name just waiting for the right FNG.)

Got home to find had lost six pounds since Friday, improvement but a three-pound gain over the previous week. Gotta go hard this week, and today was a good start. (Bellhop, currently leader in the clubhouse to win the FAC Grand Prize, somehow managed to shed two more pounds despite celebrating his anniversary on Saturday and Mexico’s independence on Sunday in grand style…)

COT

The Bull coming up October 26. (Floyd, give Brick props for mentioning.)

Come out to Town Hall Burger and Beer at 7 p.m. this Thursday, May 9, to wish Brick well. He’s not leaving Churham but headed to Hillsborough to move into a new home.

Got til the end of the week to order Durham F3 gear.

Nightshift put in a plug for The Vortex. Go check it out tomorrow if you’ve never been or it’s been a while.

YHC forgot to ask for prayer requests. Sorry about that.

BOM

YHC was a little surprised to discover he was the only Catholic in the bunch. Took the opportunity for a quick note about a longstanding Catholic tradition of devoting the entire month of May to honoring The Virgin Mary. During this time, the church also asks everyone to think about the women in their lives – wives, mothers, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, daughters, sisters, aunts and friends – and be especially mindful of our obligation to always treat them with respect, compassion and love. With that YHC took us out with a brief prayer and asking for the intercession of Holy Mother.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
