WARMUP:
Side shuffle hop (20 IC), Willie Mays Hayes (10 tempo), Harvester (10 IC), Abe Vigoda (10 IC), Michael Phelps (10 IC), LBACs (10 IC, forward & reverse), tap jacks (10 IC, led by Nightshift).
THE THANG:
Mosey along the streets (E Main > Brewer > Hargraves) over to the Roberston Bike Path down to the South Green Shopping Mall (the old Craftboro, new Beer Study mini-plaza). In the first parking lot, cocaine bears from one end to the other (bear crawl stopping at each white line for 1 merkin). At the far end, we were treated to a recap of Nightshifts trip to Omaha, and his F3 experience with some of our mid-west brethren. We then did a bear cocaine back (crawl bear with 1 merkin at each white line). Pick up the six at the end of each portion of this exercise.
After collectively refreshing our memories on the Credo (Nightshift), Mission Statement (Diaper Genie), and 5 core principles (various PAX), we headed over to the hill by the self storage area. Little did we know, there was a wake and bake situation going on, and by the end of our trips up the hill, we nearly had ourselves a contact high (also, 4 cars on that hill this morning – YHC had previously not seen *any* to his recollection).
On the hill we did the bulk of our workout: 11s. 10 Lunges at the bottom (10 each leg, 20 total), and 1 merkin at the top for round one, continuing through til ending round 10 with 1 lunge (1 each leg, 2 total), and 10 merkins at the top. Method of travel was bernie sanders up, mosey down (or mosey up, bernie down for Gridlock, and his advanced knowledge of hip health – gotta remember that next time). Pick up the six til all in.
Once all completed, moseyed over to good ol' Old Pittsboro Road, where the pax all got to pick up a 3 pack of goodies at each street light. Starting at the bottom, mosey up the hill, stopping at each street light for 5 goiner jacks, 5 carolina dry docks, and 5 jump squats. Pick up the six once finished.
Even though YHC had one last, truly fun routine to finish the workout with, we sadly ran out of time and had to make our way back to start.
MARY:
With limited time we did the following:
50 single count LBCs
30 single count Homer to Marges.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / COT:
Prayers for Melissa, a good college friend of Elwoods, who learned this week she had cancer. Prayers for a good new regarding what stage it's in, and for a quick and successful treatment.
Saturday F3 Mega-CSAUP!
Quarterly Report in Briar Chapel starting at 6 or 6:30, followed by F3 Volunteer day for Habitat for Humanity, and finished off by The Westbrooks (aka Yo-yo, his pops, and his brother), jamming at Boxcar Arcade (downtown Durham location). Grab a pint, a pizza, and enjoy the music. Yo-yo mentioned various ways to get him to buy you a beer. YHC think first 5 pax along with "yo-yo you rock!" were the opportunities.
Nightshift has welcomed anyone and everyone over to his house tonight to watch the UNC-Kansas game (Slug – this is a sports ball event with two teams made up of college "students" play each other in basketball, an activity created by James Naismith in Massachusetts a little over 100 years ago to keep men and boys active during the winter when Football and Baseball weren't options).
YHC took us out with an analogy to woodpeckers. Not only are they uniquely created to perform their task, but they also don't get hung up on the "no's" of life. The large majority of their time is spent pecking trees in search of food, but they don't dwell and waste time if they don't get the right feedback. If this spot is empty, it's on to a new opportunity, looking for a "yes". YHC thinks he, and perhaps others, could benefit from focusing less on the "no's" of life, and more on searching for the "yes" opportunities. Aye!
