Way back in January, YHC had a discussion with Haagen Dazs about a Q swap between WestEnd and Animal House. We identified 6/13 as the potential date, but then we forgot to follow up to confirm. YHC happened to sign up, while Haagen Dazs…didn't. The silver lining is that he got to join us! Well, it's a silver lining for YHC, not sure how he feels about it…
Additional note: as YHC continues his journey through the past, I found a few things I liked, and tried to distill it down into a single cohesive workout. What happened is transcribed below.
WARMUP: In true Pumpkin fashion, the warm up included some deep dives into the exicon.
Side Shuffle Hop (20 IC), Willie Mays Hayes (10 tempo), Imperial Squat Walkers (10 IC), Rockette Hillbillies (10 IC)
Michael Phelps (10 IC), Tie Fighters (10 IC, forward/reverse)
Minute Merkin (30 seconds down, 30 seconds up)
THE THANG:
Mosey over to the top of curtis. Run to the bottom and back up. Finishers drop and do merkins until all PAX make it back up. YHC initially planned on a second hill run, but looking at his watch, pivoted to head back to the AO. This was inspired by this workout: https://f3churham.com/the-extremes/ (not sure who the Q was, but Neidermeyer was an FNG this day!)
We returned to the AO and got a taste of Sweats double pyramids down on the track ( https://f3churham.com/rain-soaked-double-pyramids/ ) . But to get there, we had to stay true to our Animal House DNA and bear crawl down.
Once on the field, we modified the pyramid, going from 1 to 5 and back to 1 instead of all the way up to 10. The PAX split into two groups, the first group did 1 pull up while the second group did one tuck jump. PAX switch spots and complete the second exercise for the first round. Keep alternating between 2 pull ups/2 tuck jumps, 3 PUs/3TJs, 4/5/4/3/2/1.
Here we did a Pumpkin original, of sorts. A Pumpkin Quarter Mile, similar to a Devil's Mile, but broken into 100M sections. 1st 100M – Lunge walk. 2nd 100M broad jump. 3rd 100M crab walk. Final 100M – mosey.
This left us with *just* enough time to crawl bear back up the hill for Mary.
MARY:
Not So Lazy Boy
Dr. W
And that was all we had time for.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / COT:
Too late for this announcement: bring your 2.0s to TBR for a pre-Father's day workout with dad.
Prayers for Yurts son after dental surgery (so far so good, but 13 teeth is a lot!)
Prayers for Marsha, Food Lion's mom, as well as his family, while they learn more about her recent Kidney Cancer diagnosis. Hopefully this hasn't spread and can be treated swiftly and completely.
YHC took us out with a reminder that Our life is what our thoughts make it. Events are neutral, we alone assign them value and meaning. Aye!
