05/18/2022 Rameses – Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying on THWM

May 18, 2022

WHEN: 05/18/2022
QIC: Oh-Shag-Hennessy
PAX: 2-Ply, Banana Slug, Botched, Boucher, Cake, Count Chocula, Flapjack, Gunny, Prancing Horse, Wile E., Yurt
ME HEADCOUNT: 12
EC HEADCOUNT: 2

When Flapjack asked YHC to consider a Q at the mother to our Churham AO, the only answer could be Aye.

The Disclaimer. YHC forgot the 5th principle of F3 on this VQ while proving my amateurism: for those wondering, F3 is peer-led. Thanks Boucher!

Warmarama
After my first boot camp on new year’s eve 2021 at The Wall (thanks to Homegrown Berry), I couldn’t lift my arms for a week. To help my future self out, we spent a little extra time on warmup—

Side Shuffle Hop SSH x20
Little Bittie Arm Circles LBAC w/ lunge x15 each direction
Matt Biondi x20
Sun Gods x10 each direction
Willie Mays Hayes (slow count) x20
Good Mornings x15
Side Shuffle Hop SSH x20

The Thang
Despite a nervously scrawled piece of paper that was supposed to keep me from forgetting what to do next, YHC called for the PAX to head to the bottom of Tarheel Warrior Mountain (THWM) to start with 10 merkins. The PAX were less pleased to learn that burpees were in order due to the misspeak.

Starting with burpees, PAX headed up the mountain in 4 stages–

Bottom, 10 Burpees OYO
Gate 1, 10 Squat Jumps OYO
Gate 2, 20 LBCs OYO
Top Parking, Plank/Squat to collect the PAX, then together for 10 Merkins SC (thanks to the PAX for being willing to call out the single-counts while the Q was sucking wind)
Top of the Field, 5 Burpees SC together
down the road and back to the bottom

x3

Following the last summit, the PAX kept a noticeably more upbeat pace on the decline and back into the parking lot for Mary. With time on the mind, YHC didn’t want to overstrain the gracious welcome to Q with another trip down and back or a late departure. So,

MARY
American Hammers, 20x IC
Supermans, 10x IC
Freddy Mercury, 20 IC
Flutter Kick, ring of fire, 10 Count

Announcements
Congratulations to Cousin Vinny, declared the winner as district attorney for Orange and Chatham counties.

Rambler Ruck reminded YHC of the power of making a choice to live. The Shawshank quote calls out that we can either “get busy living, or get busy dying”–the dying part is the easy part: the cynicism, the insufficiency, the anxiety, the apathy, the aloneness to which we can succumb that keeps us separated from one another and afraid. But we’ve got to get busy living. Thanks to Rambler and so many PAX who provide the inspiration to wake up determined to live each day full of the moment and present with family and friends. The brotherhood and accountability of F3 can be an antidote to the dark corners we lay ourselves down in. Get busy living. Leave no man behind. Leave no man where you found him. Aye.
