YHC has been on a history kick, going back and looking at some of the site launch backblasts, and other old school beatdowns. For this particular Q, I wanted to bring back the site launch workout implemented by Shooter, supported by Adolphus, and a few other OGs. Sadly, I slightly misunderstood part of the launch workout, for which we all suffered, and I learned from my mistake (more on that in the COT).
At 0445, three brave PAX took off for a Lone Pine warm up, while one wiser PAX went on a more reasonable EC mosey.
Upon returning to the AO, and as everyone filtered in, we started with the workout. Atypical from usual workouts, which kick off with a warmarama at the startex, the OGs immediately moseyed up to the church lot for warm up, which brings us to
WARMUP:
30 Side Shuffle Hop (IC)
30 Imperial Walker (IC)
30 Mountain Climbers (IC)
Amtrak Joe informed us many other regions use 30 as the warm up rep count, which made sense since this workout was essentially a few PAX who had worked out over in Raleigh previously. After explaining this was the site launch workout, we jumped into…
THE THANG:
Indian Run/Ricky Bobby back to the top of the BFH/THWM. Here is where I got things mixed up a wee bit…the backblast I pulled this from only said the jacobs ladder we were about to embark on was up and down the hill, and I assumed that meant alllllll the way down to the bottom. It wasn't until I stumbled across the Rameses 3 year anniversary backblast this morning that I saw a note about how it was gate to gate. Oops, sorry y'all! Back to the THANG…
Jacobs Ladder – 1 burpee at the top, run down, 1 squat at the bottom. Run back up, 2 burpees at the top, run down, 2 squats at the bottom. Realizing this was going to take too much time, we switched to gate to gate after the 5th round. Complete 10 rungs of the ladder, and remain at the bottom (lower gate) after 10 squats.
From here, we did buddy carries back to the top, swapping out as needed.
We skipped a bunch of the rest of the workout (see it all here: https://f3churham.com/rameses-launch-birth-of-the-chapel-hill-pax/ ), and did a quick Pusherama (15 Makhtar N’Diaye, 15 Dry Docks, 15 Merkins), and circled up for Mary
MARY:
30 LBCs IC
20 Rosalitas IC
(10 Hello Dollies and 10 Flutters were skipped for time…)
Appreciate the PAX for humoring me, and joining me on this adventure.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / COT:
Prayers for Spelunker and his wife as she heads home this week and begins the at home recovery.
YHC took us out with a story about how I screwed up installing a sump pump last year, and got to fix it Monday night. This was a reminder that we learn and grow from our mistakes, and to recognize them as opportunities (just as we got some extra time on the hill today, making us a little stronger!)
