It was perfect Friday morning to gather in the doom- do some exercises and listen to some great tunes (just ask Spud- he sang along- well, I might add- to most songs).
Warm up: The “usual”. We started at the bottom and worked our way up. Once we finished the parts of the warm up- we did five burpees to pull it all together.
ME: We headed over to the side of the library where the concrete is very smooth and even. Once we got there, we found a dry erase board with our menu for the morning waiting for us.
The exercises were: Burpee
LBC
Merkin
Heals to Heaven
Squat
Hello Dolly
Shoulder Tap
Lunge (single leg)
Burpee
Run a lap of the library grounds
Rinse and repeat
Everyone “enjoyed” a pyramid of repetitions: 1x, 5x, 10x, 15x 10x, 5x, 1x The set of exercises was designed to hit most body groups and keep everyone moving so even the set of one repetition was a lot of moving around.
During the workout some tunes were played. The playlist was: A/c D/c’s Back in Black, Pink Floyd’s Run Like Hell, Godsmack’s Crying like a bitch, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s House is Rockin, Led Zeppelin’s Ramble On, Journey’s Anyway you want it, Queen’s Don’t Stop me now, Metallica’s Enter Sandman, and Aerosmith’s Sweet Emotion. There were lots of other great tunes queued up but we ran out of time.
YHC forgot to wear a watch so Red Tape was our official time keeper. Rolex has nothing on this PAX when it comes to keep track of time.
There was strong encouragement and mumble chatter during the workout but it was an individual push to get through the sets. To help create some PAX unity, we all knocked out as a group 10 each of 8 count man-makers.
One of YHC’s struggles is to stay limber so the perfect way to finish up was with some light stretching. A down dog lead into a lunge, pigeon pose, and then back to down dog. Once both sides were stretched, we did a little cobra to loose up our backs.
Mary had been incorporated into the main workout.
Spud reminded everyone that the Cloud Buster Tough is coming next Friday.
COT: Cool J asked for prayers for Jane, a student he knows.
YHC took us out. It is always a pleasure to post with this great crew. It’s dark and early but the energy and motivation from the group makes Honey Badger the absolute best way to start a weekend.
