I figured that since I’m the site Co-Q and it was the first day at a new location with a new name, I would try my hand at my first back last. Treehorn and I took the site Q handoff of Bullpen from Soybean and Sherwin earlier this month, and after much discussion and polling of the group, decided to move the workout location to Old North Durham Park. With a new location, it was only fitting to find a new name (explained below) , and that is how The Heights was born.
I met four other meathead PAX at the pull-up bars for 100 EC pull-ups. Moseyed back to the park parking lot for ME.

At this point I gave a quick history lesson about Pauli Murray, an inspirational social activist, legal scholar, priest, poet, author, and Durhamite. Pauli has been on minds at Bullpen for some time, specifically one of their poems encouraging all to seek discovery of the “illimitable heights and depths” of our own being. Now that everyone was up to speed on how the site was named, we moseyed to the field.
The Thang
PAX spread out along the sideline grouped into two teams. A relay race was performed, with one team member at a time sprinting across and back the field. Those waiting on the sidelines assumed the plank position and performed a series of plank exercises for the duration. Everyone was winner, as it turned out.

PAX began in the center of the field doing 10 burpees, followed by a different mode of travel and exercises in each corner. Mosey back to center after each for 10 more burpees. Treehorn brought a speaker and got the tunes pumping.

Prayers for our brother Spätzle as he begins his military deployment today. Night shift took us out in prayer. All in all, a solid start to The Heights!
