For YHC, the past month has been filled with thoughts on the strategic plan for the SLT, the daily red pill, and how important the community that we’ve created in F3 is. Last night’s SLT meeting continued these thoughts, put some actions in place towards these ends, and started the SLT on a new path.

As always, we started the meeting with the origin story of one of our PAX, tonight it was Cosmo’s turn. A penchant for frugality developed into an audience for Simpson’s one liners, and a community of brothers dedicated to keeping him accountable and walking around with backpacks on.

Our round Table reports consisted of:

1st F – Recognition for the Site Qs that have taken the helm since February, where we need new Site Qs, and kudos to the PAX in the northern corner of the region for an excellent job on the Wolf.

2nd F – We recapped the good ‘ol hockey game from last weekend with 25+ PAX, Ms, and 2.0s in attendance. Uzi and Bellhop talked about some upcoming ideas including maybe a Women’s sporting event to promote the PAX connecting with our daughters and showcasing Women and Girls in Sports.

3rd F – As mentioned in our last meeting the 3rd Fs have some great projects in the works. Moore and Nickelback are looking into ways to track community service hours performed, and on a program to bring mental and health services to the guys that need it and may not have access.

Expansion – There has been some interest expressed in an evening workout, and the Expansion Qs are working to help with expanding F3 in ways that include our brothers of color.

CommzQ – It was a quiet month for Comms, be on the lookout for some videos of the SLT members talking through what their role is on the SLT. Cosmo is now helping with the F3 Churham Twitter, and Vice is manning the gate for Facebook.

Rucking Q – The Rambler Ruck has hit the minimum number of registrations for 2 cadres to be secured. Fundraising for the event is going to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation. If you want to get in shape for the event, you have opportunity aplenty, MMHT is going now every Tuesday at the Meadowmont Harris Teeter, Ruck PT at Hooker Fields is ago on Fridays, check out the #rucktraining. Finally, on March 11, Uzi and Scapula are leading a ruck event to give guys a sample of what to expect at this event.

Weasel Shaker – Aside from shaking weasels, Nightshift has been working behind the scenes to understand how to use the data gleaned from backblasts to know when a PAX has fallen away from our group for too long. This is important work that can help us support guys who you don’t see in the gloom or are injured. Additionally, he has led the charge on backblasts, and you fellas have heard his call, over 50% of workouts have backblasts submitted! This is fantastic work gentlemen.

Nantan – l kept my words brief last night and shared that the F3 Nations supports our region with the leadership of a Regional Q, Iverson (NE Wake Co), and a Sector Q, Shut-In (CARPEX). The Sectors are new to F3, and are intended to “Connect, Coach and Coordinate” regions.

We then jumped into a new topic, the IR report. Recently I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand how there are some days that the community of F3 makes me feel better than the workout I do. Parallel to that I’ve been hearing more about the “Daily Red Pill” that we each take, the choice we make to post in the gloom, and way that sets the trajectory for the day, the week, and collectively, our lives. I’ve been fortunate to not have a major injury, but with these thoughts in mind, I know we can do more to support our brothers in need, and our injured brothers. Over the next month, we are going to slow roll a new Slack Channel dedicated to PAX that are in need of an extra prayer, a meal train, financial support, etc. These things are important to our community; we want to have dedicated space for this so it doesn’t get lost in #ChurhamNews or on #Mumblechatter, and so it reaches more people than putting it in a couple of site channels. For our injured brothers, we’re going to do some crowdsourcing and have a few conversations to find a way to change the culture and welcome guys on the IR to come out to lead a workout or coordinating a way for guys who are injured to keep coming out and taking that daily red pill. We brainstormed a lot of ways to do this and want to think it through before rolling something out. Be on the lookout for more info. If you’re hurt, post, Q, bring your stationary bike to a bootcamp and do your own thing. We don’t care how you work out. We care that you’re there, that you're posting, that you know we’re here for you when you’re down, and that you’ll be there when we are.

As promised from our previous meetings, we finalized what we originally called a strategic plan. As we discussed it last night, we came to the conclusion that what we had been working on was too specific and task oriented to be a strategic plan. The task list is more a workplan that we developed to outline the work that the members of the SLT will take on over the next year. Given the change from a strategic plan to a workplan, there are a couple tweaks that I need to make. Once I have it ready, I’ll post it on Churham News for all to see.

The second part of our discussion on the plan generated a new project, one that will help anchor the SLT for the coming years and will help us answer your question of “What does the SLT do?”. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be working with a facilitator on making sure each member of the SLT can speak our shared language of F3, understand the SLT Q Point, and then collectively develop a purpose statement for the SLT. While much of this can be distilled from F3 Nation, our team needs to go through this process together to build trust, steward leadership and foster the community of F3 Churham.

Like so many things in F3, we are building the road 43 feet ahead of us as we travel it. It’s taking us a bit longer, but it’s our path, the one we need to travel to understand and make sure what we’re doing is meaningful to us and to each of you. I’m excited to be a part of this SLT and can attest that everyone in the room (and on Teams) is committed to this region, and to the community that we’ve all created.

Thank you for allowing us to lead. If you have any questions, please contact me or any other member of the Shared Leadership Team.

See You In The Gloom.
