As the countdown to BRR has been ticking away, YHC has been busy running lots of hills to ensure proper conditioning for the mountain goat climbs which will be encountered during the race. One thing which has been missing recently from the running line up….speed, quick short bursts of speed. While some say hill repeats are speed intervals in disguise, it’s always fun to just go out and run as fast as you can across a field like you did back in the grade school days.

Warm Up:
1200 meter jog with last two 100 straights at fast pace.
10 of each of the following: Slow good morning, WMH, Imperial Walkers, OYO stretch.

The Thang:
Nothing like some good old suicides to get things started:
Sprint to 1st line, jog back, sprint to second line, job back….sprint to 5th line (entire length of field), jog back.
Repeato, but sprint both ways and burpees at each line…1 line, 1 burpee, 2nd line 2 burpees and so on.
Repeato the 1st set of suicides.

Recovery lap to far corner of field near Fetzer stadium entrance. Next came cross field sprints:
Sprint diagonally across two fields, jog short sides, repeat 4x.
15 recovery merkins in cadence.
Sprint diagonally across all fields, jog long side and repeato.

For the final round, to the Hooker Field “track” we went:
400m fast run with 200m recovery, 2x
200m sprint with 200m recovery, 3x
Recovery jog back to start for Mary….total mileage ~4.5 miles. And this is how it looks on Stava in case you got lost reading along.
