EC

Several PAX did an EC run

Warm up

25 x SSH

10 x Imperial Walkers

10 x Good Morning

10 x Willie Mays Hays

The thang

Mosey to wall near Lumina Theater and do each exercise twice:

  • Group 1: 10 derkins, 10 erkins
  • Group 2: BTTW

Mosey back to the green

Bear crawl to midfield, 5 x burpees with 180 jump, crawl bear to end of field, 10 180 degree burpees, bear crawl back to midfield, 15 180 degree burpees, crawl bear to end of field, 20 180 degree burpees. Upon arrivial before the workout, YHC was surprised to see erected in the middle of the green a giant tent for an event over the weekend. No biggie, we just went through it.

Mosey to curb by Subwway

10 X Squat, jump onto curb, squat, jump down

People’s Chair—more like People’s Bench because everyone seated shoulder to shoulder so we could pass a 20 lb sandbag coupon back and forth from one end of the bench to the other a few times

Mosey to bottom of hill, backward sprint to top

Last man sprint: single file slow jog, last man drops and does 10 merkins and sprints to front, as he tags the last man, that guy drops for 10 merkins, etc until everyone has had a turn at merkins (or burpees in the case of Band Camp)

Mosey to bottom of hill, sprint up chasing the Ruxpin/Spooky rocket ship and then return to the green

Mary

Hollow body hold

30 x flutter kick

5 Merkin Ring of Fire

COT

Very pleased to hear that things are going smoothly with Lo Pair as he recovers from his procedure—looking forward to seeing him back in the gloom!
Hoping for a speedy recovery for Pookie who twisted an ankle today.

YHC has been trying to headlock a friend into F3. The friend has run through a gamut of problems in the past few years, including divorce, job loss, health issues, and special demands from children. Despite these obstacles, he’s not only gotten by but has thrived. His resilience is amazing. To have that grit and persistence is not easy. The effort and discipline required draw on a sense of life meaning. I appreciate you F3 brothers in enriching my life in this regard and hope we can share the experience with others, including the aforementioned friend, a true Mensch.

Relevant quotations that I revisit regularly:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

— Calvin Coolidge

“Meaning is not something you stumble across, like the answer to a riddle or the prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build into your life. You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something. The ingredients are there. You are the only one who can put them together into that unique pattern that will be your life.”

— John Gardner
