“Y Tho”

August 11, 2017

WHEN: 08/11/2017
QIC: Au Jus and Blindside
PAX: Subprime, Gordo, EZ-Pass, Nightshift, Marta, Beano, Draper, Foghorn Leghorn, Peach

The most common response when someone posts at Animal House is “y tho”.

Why: because we have been blessed with the good fortune of being healthy.   Also, we are animals and we show up to push ourselves to the limit so we can get better.   I know without F3 I wouldn’t be in the shape I am today.

8 showed up for some extra credit which involved rounds of 5 pull-ups, 5 top guns, 10 dips and a carry up the hill and back down. Repeato for 30 minutes. Carry options included gravel buckets, sandbags, weight plates, etc.

Main event:

Warm up:

SSH x 10

Willie mays hayes x 14

Arm circles forward and back x 12 each way

Merkins x 10 IC

The Thang:

The Pax got relief early at AH.  We had so many coupons to move down the hill that we had to abandon the traditional bear crawl down.  Instead we coupon lunge walked down to the track.

Once we made it to the track,  YHC instructed each PAX member to grab a piece of chalk.

Next, the instructions were simple.  We were to complete a OCR fitness test, The Burpee 400:

The PAX had 3 minutes to run one 400m lap and do AMRAP burps as possible in that amount of time.   Repeat x 8

The only rest was enough time to write down your # of burps before the timer went off to do another lap.

Again, I know “y tho” was going through everyone’s mind.  The why here is because the burpee is the single best movement one can do.   It’s important to remember your form.   We do burpees to get stronger and better.   So form is extremely important.  Chest to the ground with a jump at the top.   Cheating them so you can get more reps in is only cheating yourself.  The Pax did a great job here even though YHC forgot to mention this.

Shout out to the entire PAX. Everyone really pushed themselves here.  I was thoroughly impressed with the effort.

Blindside took the Q.   So naturally we picked up the weights and headed to the hill for Dora partner shoulder presses and heavy weight shoulder presses.  x 300 per team.

“Y tho”. I would imagine Blindside prescribes a heavy dose of shoulder presses to make us stronger.  But also to test your mental fortitude.    You can always count on BS to test your mind and body in one way or another.

We finished with a solid Mary session led by Blindside

Personally I felt like my core was weak in my last Spartan race.  We simply don’t do enough ab work in our beatdowns.   Shout out to Blindside, Sweats and Lo Pair.  Each one of you dealt out a heavy dose of ab work this week and the Pax is stronger for it.
