The Thicket gang made the drive up 15/501 to pay a visit to Pleasantville, and Moore welcomed them with some trickery. It was brilliant.
Extra Credit:
Four showed up really, really early for a 4:30 AM ruck. Something about needing miles and getting a patch. Adolphus was one of them, but he had to get to work so couldn’t stay for the main event.
Main Event:
A total of 33 pax participated in the main event – the largest Pleasantville crowd ever. Homes warmed up the group with a jog around the green followed by some slow good mornings, WMH, and imperial walkers, then turned it over to Moore.
Moore started with a seemingly harmless exercise to “set a baseline for the workout” and instructed everyone to do as many burpees as they could in 20 seconds. Little did they know they would be doing a pyramid based on that number. In retrospect, it would have been a good time to tie your shoe.
Here’s how it worked:
Establish your number. Call it X.
Line up along the green. Do X burpees, bear crawl across the green, do X jump lunges, crawl bear back across the green.
Repeat with 2X burpees and 2X jump lunges
Repeat with 3X…
Repeat with 2X…
Repeat with X…
For a total of 9X burpees and 9X lunges with bear crawls and crawl bears between sets.
Next, Moore followed up with not one but two tabatas:
20 seconds of merkins, 10 seconds of rest, 8 sets
20 seconds of squats, 10 seconds of rest, 8 sets
Homes then brought the group to the hills of Southern Village for some hill sprints. Unfortunately, time was running short so we only did 2.
