The Ol’ Burpee Indian Run

May 8, 2018

WHEN: 05/08/2018
QIC: Subprime
PAX: Wuerffel, Vandelay, Gordo, Catheter, Tigger, Kevin, Beano, Draper

An absolute perfect morning in Blue Heaven today. Temps were perfect for some moving outdoors. 9 PAX showed up to enjoy the elements.

Warmup:

1 lap and then mosey to the bottom of Laurel Hill

The Thang:

YHC wanted to try an Indian Run up Laurel Hill but given these PAX are veteran runners, we could try to step it up a bit. When you are last in line, drop and do one burpee and then run to the front of the line. The burpee creates space and makes you have to work a little harder to get to the front.  9 of us lined up and went all the way to the top with no break.  Turns out that was too easy. 9 people meant the burpee chase occurred too rarely and we were not completely gassed when we reached the top. So, we returned halfway down Laurel Hill. This time we break into three groups of three PAX each and began a new burpee Indian Run to the top. This worked much better as there was little rest between the burpee chases.

Mosey back to Hooker fields:

400m – flutter kicks until everyone is done

800m- Freddie Mercuries until everyone is done

1,200m – Heels to Heaven until everyone is done

1,600m – flutter kicks until everyone is done

There happened to be a large tire lying next to the track and I estimate it weighs about 250-300 lbs. Since YHC has a Spartan race this weekend, we don’t pass by idle tires without flipping them. So, each of the PAX got a chance to flip the tire on the last lap of the 1,200m and 1,600m runs.   The stronger Pax like Draper flipped it like it was a bicycle tire. Others had to team up and attack it as a pair but everyone flipped it.
