The Magnificent 7 do many things 40 times.

April 24, 2018

WHEN: 04/24/2018
QIC: Knope
PAX: Weenie Roast, LowTide, Soda Popinski, Cool J, OPEC, Kia, Knope

Today was a continuation of last week’s theme at The Big Dance.  We did the other half of the Men’s Journal Workout. 7 PAX braved the gloom today for a gentlemanly competition.  There was some mumblechatter as the workout progressed, but the kind that the Q likes to hear.  Kia and LowTide agreed to be our captains, keeping track of the scores.  The point was for each team as a whole to finish the exercise before the other team.  When complete each PAX either held a squat, or the plank, signifying they were done, so there was no unused time.  Here’s how it went down:

Warm Up

SSH x 10

IW x 10

Hillbilly x 10

WMH x 10

Mosey up W. Forest Hills Dr. to Forestview. At Forestview we continued the warm up.

Chinooks x 10

Moroccan Night Club x 10

Good Morning x 10

Slow Merkins x 10

Mosey back to Forest Hills Clubhouse, and line up at the guard rail leading to the pool.

The Thang

At the Guard Rail, YHC explained the competition, and we jumped right into the first exercise.

Inverted Row x 40 (This didn’t work so well due to the height of the rail, do not recommend IRs there)

Mosey to the Pavilion, where we moved the tables so we could look the other team in the eye.

Burpees x 20 (YHC shared that if you can’t do it, don’t Q it.  I can do 40, but the last 20 are crap, so we split this into halves).

Bulgarian Split Squat x 40 (switch legs at 20)

Freddy Mercuries x 40

Carolina Dry Docks x 40

Pistol Squat x 40 (switch legs at 20)

Burpees x 20

Calf Raises x 40 (doesn’t sound tough?  Go ahead try it standing by your desk, I’ll wait…  See, it burns.)

Ballerina Calf Raises x 40 (same as the previous but on your toes with knees bent.  It works the other calf muscle)

Diamond Merkins x 40

Peter Parkers x 40

Monkey Humpers x 40

At this point I checked with our captains, and we were tied at 5-5-1.  Time for a tiebreaker, enter the…

Plank Jack x 40

Team 1 was the winner again this week.

Mary

Flutter Kicks x 40

Plank x 40 Count

Right Arm Plank x 20 Count, then Left Arm Plank x 20 Count

Star Plank x 40 Count

NMS

While it wasn’t a secret, especially with the recurrence of 40 in our workout, that it was YHC’s birthday today, OPEC shared it with the group. Thank you to all of the PAX for the birthday wishes today.  I often say in this section how much of an honor it is to lead a workout with this group, and that is still true.  I’m not sure how I feel about turning 40, but I am thankful to be in good shape, as I start thinking of my age.  Having two kids under 7, makes it important to maintain my health so I’m not broken down before my time and I can be active with them for many years to come.  I appreciate F3 and all of the PAX within our brotherhood for continuing to push me, continuing to lead the workouts, and striving to make us all better.  Between now and 41, my goal is to knock out 41 burpees, all with good form.  Maybe I’ll even get as excited about 40+ burpees as Coco does.

Thank you fellas, SYITG
