THE THANG

I have been building up a catalog of routes in preparation of the opportunity to lead my first Rabbit. Once I got the nod from Grunge, I sat down last night to plan it out. I decided to scratch all the mix-matched trails I had in mind and keep it simple. I am huge fan of the variety of different running work outs we get to do, but every so often it feels good to get back to basics and just burn up some trails. No better way to accomplish this then to do a loop of BC. I almost had to call an audible when I woke up to pouring rain at 4:30 am…I am a Safety Consultant during the day and I couldn’t have people running into trees because of bad visibility! Fortunately, the rain moved out around 5:15 am. After warm up, we dropped onto the trail behind the Clubhouse and made our way up towards BCP and crossed over to the follow the power line trail down to the dog park on GRP. In that first two miles, if someone was counting how many times “Roots…Rocks…Water…” was called out I’m sure it would be a record. After a minute to catch our breath, we headed back into the woods and crossed the bridge, hung a left to make our way over to BCP using the trail going under the Parkway bridge. From there we hopped on the road and made our way up the hill to the Clubhouse. We regrouped with 3 minutes to spare and logged about 4.1 miles.

No time for MARY.

COT/BOM

Kind of sped through this part due to time, so I will add a few words. It is a chore in itself to balance home and work, and still find time to stay active and not be a lump. A year ago I wouldn’t have been able to do this run, and moving to this neighborhood revitalized my urge to stay active. There is so much to offer, and being a part of this group just kicked it in high gear and I am thankful for that. My message this morning was to stay motivated and continue to challenge yourself. If your only time to accomplish your goals is at 5:30 am or 11:00 pm…get out there! Thanks for coming out guys, it was a great morning.
