Rediscovery through F3

One thing that comes to mind when I consider the impact of F3 is how it helps men rediscover themselves in ways old and new.  For many of us, talents and passions stayed dormant for years before our F3 reawakening.  For some, it is the love of running or the ability to go really fast, sprinting or enduring.  For others, the thrill of pushing to one’s limits.  And I would wager for all of us we have found something new about ourselves – maybe we do not quit so easily, maybe we improve faster on things when we put our minds to accomplishing them, and just maybe we enjoy the process better than the destination more than we ever thought we would.

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.  I am tempted to think about the “what if” possibilities: what if I approached challenges in my adolescence with the self-knowledge I have now.  And through F3 I have been able to confirm that most of what held me back in any endeavor up to this point was probably 99% mental.  It is true what they say, the toughest opponent is yourself.  Handle him, and you have defeated the biggest obstacle between you and accomplishing anything, really.  It is all out there for us to go get.  If you do not do it, someone else will, and for the most part no one is more capable than the next guy.  Make it a priority to make opportunities happen, and good things will follow.

After our Mission 5K20 EC, I was spent from trying to run fast, so I decided sort of on the fly that Tobacco Road would be a muscle-monster fest.  And for the record, I have always loved muscle fests!

Rock Circle:

Time bombs (each guy 10 reps at a time while rest of PAX overhead hold); switch rocks, 5 reps.

Rotating through different reps around the circle, we hit squats with overhead press, lunges with overhead hold, curls, deadlifts, calf raises with overhead hold, lateral squats.

Onto the field, where we did the inchworm to the 18, the lateral bear crawl to half field, and then the mountain climber lateral merkin back for a bit.

To the concession stand, 3 groups: dips X25 cadence, 30 box squats, and BTTW timed on the slowest guy in the other two groups. Rotate to hit each station once.  We ended with 10 one-legged derkins on the wall.  No fun.

To the playground, 4 groups: swerkins X 10, WWII X 10, Burpees X 10, and Pull ups X 20.

CoT: Welcome FNG Equifax.  Prayers to Brandon and his family, as he passed away at a very young age.  Good luck to Floyd this weekend at the Spartan in Dallas!  Go get ’em buddy.
