Quarter Crawl Comes to The Thicket

December 4, 2017

WHEN: 12/04/2017
QIC: Marky Mark
PAX: Canyouhearmenow, Chum, CO2, Duplo, Golden Pinkie, Hollywood, ICE, John-Boy, Lumbergh, Rambler, Skynyrd, The Closer, Yanni

There were two on the EC Ruck and 14 total PAX that arrived at The Thicket this morning looking to start their week right. YHC had a few objectives with this Q assignment: 1) good form (it’s Form Week!) 2) lots of bear crawling 3) involve every member of the PAX. Hence the Quarter Crawl was the right fit.

Warmup

SSHx20 – perfect form
Arm Circles Forward & Reverse – perfect form
Slow Merkins – perfect form

The Thang

The Quarter Crawl is something YHC first debuted at The Cougar a couple years ago and has since refined. It starts by mapping out a quarter-mile route (which YHC carefully measured over the weekend). The workout involves bear crawling that route, in cadence, with breaks in between for various exercises, which are each chosen and led by a different member of the PAX. YHC also added in a couple running laps to mix it up.

So there were merkins, dips, derkins, squats, jump squats, burpees, mountain climbers, WWIIs, to name what YHC can remember, plus running, and a whole lot of bear crawling. And, it should be noted, the PAX all did a great job leading their chosen exercises on short notice when called upon.

Not enough time remained for a fully Mary, so instead the PAX engaged in some gym-class-partner-plank situps. Proper form would mean the planker keeps his head up, but that can come with some unfortunate visuals, as the PAX noted, so it was not enforced.

BOM
Don’t underestimate the lure of the fartsack and how hard it can be to return the gloom after a prolonged absence. It’s just as important to hold others accountable as it is to hold yourself accountable. Kudos to Canyouhearmenow for working his way back and rejoining the PAX today.
