Play It Cool…

December 26, 2017

WHEN: 12/26/2017
QIC: Happy Gilmore
PAX: Tater Tot, Riggs, Knope, Low Tide, Soda Popinski, Cyanide, The Exchange, Funny Money, Happy Gilmore (Q)

YHC signed up for this Q a few weeks ago and it seemed like a good idea, but this morning YHC’s brain was fried and was praying for a skeleton crew to post.  Good news is we only had 9 – bad news is that YHC still managed to get ridiculed by the PAX.

Warm Up:
Upon arrival (lots of late arrivals today – all PAX were moving slower than usual) YHC announced that he had been studying the Exicon and whenever we saw a car go by someone was to call “Play it Cool” and we would stop what we were doing and wall sit and act like we were reading the paper. Hilarity ensued the entire duration of the workout.

SSH x30 (Extra 20 were for Riggs)
Finkle Swings x10 each leg (bonus points for the PAX who knew Ray Finkle was a soccer style kicker)

At this point YHC was informed he was doing the 3 commands to start the exercises wrong (something about his last two lines – YHC feels like Charles Barkley and his golf swing – he has studied the count but still manages to get it wrong in the moment – YHC will get this nailed down eventually)

Run into Forest Hills Neighborhood, backwards up the hill, run the loop at bottom of hill, plank for six and then Nolan Ryan’s – Both hands.  Riggs declared that he had invented this excercise – YHC enjoys this one, so thank you Riggs.  Run to the tennis courts.

The Thang:
YHC originally envisioned a duck walk indian run, where the guy in the back had to duck walk faster than the other guys, but somehow this turned into a duck and weave instead.  Duck and weave around the perimeter of the tennis courts. YHC declared he hoped the PAX hadn’t hoped for arms day because he wasn’t giving it to them.

Upon Completion of the lap, run two laps around tennis courts.  Move into Dutch Skater – single file the perimeter of the tennis courts.  (Can we say Leg Day?)

1 minute of True Americans OYO (staple of happy workouts)

go to east side of tennis courts – YHC told a story about hitting a monster drive at Hope Valley the other week and the excercise he created that he shall refer to as “Gorilla Marbles” to demonstrate to his playing partners why he hit it so far.  YHC Demonstrated and then declared we were walking the short length of the tennis court and back. Next time we will go all four tennis courts.

We decided to get a little core work in –  Weezy Jeffersons for a minute and then some (With Singing)

Run around the tennis courts again

Superman’s (With Singing)

Run around tennis courts again

Flutter Kicks (while singing the Flintstone’s theme song)

Run around the tennis courts (May have duck walked around them again, can’t remember exactly)

Scorpion Dry Docks both Legs (YHC wanted to do OYO again, but was goaded into single count by the PAX)

Run around the tennis courts again

In half of the center tennis courts – Duck Jousting (if you’re doing this right, your legs and hips should burn)

Run to the Parking Lot

Mary:
Dealer’s Choice Mary moving left from YHC since I was out of ideas

Heels to Heaven
LBC’s
Russian Hammers (Freedom Twists)
Ring of Fire 6″ leg hold

COT/Announcements/Prayers:
Question about New Year’s workout – PAX have not heard anything yet.

5 PAX for Bruegger-teria
1 PAX and 2.0 at Waffle House for a B-Day Breakfast

NMS:
Funny Money is a wealth of knowledge on 80’s theme songs.  YHC hopes Funny posts often when YHC is Q’ing, because mumblechatter will be high with his knowledge of these songs
YHC really likes the Timed OYO Exercises – allows the beasts to get after it as hard as they want while allowing the newer PAX an opportunity to push themselves but not feel as though they are not living up to “Spartans” among us. YHC would encourage other Q’s to consider this option especially when an FNG is posting.
YHC can’t say he loved the way he ran this workout – definite room for improvement – previous Q’s were much stronger.
YHC was amazed at the number of cars that travel up and down University Avenue at 530 in the morning.  Play it cool ultimately had to be turned on and off depending on the exercise we were doing.  YHC loves this wrinkle though and will look to incorporate in future Q’s.
