Back to basics at the Rabbit today: All LSD – Long Slow Distance. We’ll keep with the theme and keep the backblast basic too.
13 PAX arrived by 5:30 on a morning cold enough to leave a layer of ice on YHC’s windshield which made the Q exactly 1 minute late. Riding with YHC was the final member of the group, Truett, a one-year-old Australian Shepherd who ranks running loose on Briar Chapel trails just slightly ahead of bacon as a favorite activity.
Warm-up (as YHC fought off a very eager-to-participate Truett)
10X IW
10X WMH
10X Calf stretches
10X Windmills
Too cold to warm-up – let’s go!
Main Event Route:
– From the clubhouse, across Great Ridge to ‘stairs’ trailhead on north side of circle.
– Right and down trail to main bike trail
– Traverse behind Dark Forest houses about ½ to end, reverse on main pedestrian trail.
– Emerge at gravel road trailhead, across road then into western trail.
– Left spur up to Serenity Hill retaining pond, up to street (YHC’s house!) back down onto trail at trailhead at corner of Pokeberry and Serenity.
– All the way up bike trail (burms) to street crossing.
– Right turn into new development.
All On streets:
– Back into Encore development, farthest loop, then over to Constellation Park out-and-back. Rock hopping at Constellation, a terrific location for future AO.
– Return via #thewall AO, then RTB down BC Parkway to clubhouse.
TIME – 5 miles in 1 hour, on the nose.
Lots of good conversations and I hope some worthwhile miles to pre-burn some Thanksgiving calories. Truett had a ball.
COT: It’s Thanksgiving, y’all- be thankful!
Announcements:
– Thicket is closed, will be at Kenan next week.
