Stand in the hallway. 15m to workout. Look at the pile. Polypro Ts and heavy sweatpants and Mudgear and capiline longsleeves and jackets and hoodies and 2- no, 3- pairs of gloves. Grab about half – something long, something short, something heavy, something with a hood, a hat, thick socks, out the door, 13m to workout.

Step outside.

Where am I?

There’s my car, there are my steps. I fell down in 10inches of snow 36 hours ago but… it’s a different place. Breathing is heavy. It doesn’t hurt, doesn’t even sting. No shiver runs up my back.

It’s… not cold. It’s….

Warm? Almost warm? Sorta warm? Warm compared to the last 3 arctic weeks?

And- it can’t be. But yes! That’s humidity!

Driving over, 10m to workout, there’s snow on the street but, ha, enjoy it while it lasts, slushie. Time’s up!

It’ll be cold again, of course, but for one morning, there was a weight in the air that felt not even like spring but almost a memory of summer itself Monday at the Thicket. In such near-balmy conditions – and with children actually getting up for school – we got to it.

THE THANG

Count off – 32 PAX! Form 4 lines (should have counted off by 4s, but didn’t- Q mistake) for warm-up lap then retrieve bricks, 4 per line.

 

Dips/Merkins – 25X2 for each in the gazebo

 

Travel – Modified Indian Run. 2 sets of 2 bricks per line- PAX pass bricks backwards, 2 at a time. When man at back receives bricks, he sprints to front, passes bricks backwards.

  • Intent is two-fold- add a small amount of weight resistance and teamwork by passing bricks during run, but also keep PAX together in tighter, slower line, keeping the Indian run format cleaner.

  • Q Error: Several PAX note, correctly, that Lunges and Stairs in same workout may have not been the best choice. Probably should have subbed in MTN Climbers or others. Apologies to any with stairs in your daily travels this week.
