The Thang

The thing about EMOM (Every Minute On the Minute) is that it’s simple, but it’s hard.  YHC likes simple things – and also challenging things.  So an EMOM morning was on tap.

Before leaving the grounds of Forest Hills Park, we moseyed over to the pullup bars:
EMOM: 5 pullups/10 merkins/10 squats. Repeato x5

We jetted from the playground back across the street towards the hills and quiet neighborhood.
EMOM: 8 burpees every minute while continuing to mosey through the neighborhood loop.
The loop happened to be approx. 1 mile which gave us approximately 90-100 burpees (10-12 stops) under the soft streetlamp glow.  Funny Money made a vital clarification that although we were indeed traveling, and doing burpees… we weren’t doing traveling burpees.   He was right.  Next time Funny Money… next time.
Bushwood led the PAX on a sprint down the hill back to Forest Hills Park while muttering something about wanting to more (?!) burpees (I think).

Upon returning to the parking lot we gathered our gear and carried them to the tennis courts.  Our coupon assortment included two 40lb sandbags, a 50KB, an 8lb slam ball, two 30lb dumbbells and four 30lb containers of sand (or protein powder as Beano speculated?!).

Two teams quickly formed against the fence and nets, facing each other.  The team at the net had the coupons and each selected their preferred exercise (KB swing/squat/press/curl, etc.) for 15 reps.  Low squat when finished.
The fence team was assigned 5 burpees and 10 merkins, then people’s chair until our minute timer chimed again.  The exercises gradually changed and ultimately included 10 WWIIs (OYO) and 10 flutters (OYO cadence-count) to ensure we included Mary in our morning.
The PAX completed 6-7 cycles before the final bell rang.  0615 and we’re done.
