Steel.  Speed.  Grit.  That’s all 19 PAX needed this morning.  Lady luck shines on some of us, smirks at the rest of us, and the rest is up to us.  Give us the steel, let us move it.  Give us the speed, let us prove it.  And give us the grit, an attitude that makes us angry to think about quitting, that makes it impossible to think about weakness in our limbs or lungs, that makes us determined to finish the work.  Superman was given superhuman abilities.  The rest of us have to work to make it happen.  So here we go:

Grab steel.  Lunge walk with a push press on every lunge.  To the top of the hill.  Low squat hold.

  • Sprint 1 lap around church and up the hill.  Low squat hold.
  • Push press.  2 sets of 50, switching steel in between sets.
  • Sprint 1 lap around church and up the hill.  Low squat hold.
  • 25 jump squats with steel overhead.
  • Curl and push press while walking with steel to the bottom of the parking lot.  Low squat hold.
  • Jump lunge with steel, with option to hold overhead.  Cadence count to 25.

Next, we bear crawled and then with I shouted out “jump,” we broad jumped and then immediately returned to crawling.

  • Bear crawl broad jump to first island.  Sprint back.
  • Bear crawl broad jump to second island.  Sprint back.
  • Bear crawl broad jump to third island.  Sprint 1 lap around church.
  • Return steel.

Mary: 50 Russian Hammers, 25 Flutter Kicks.

Moleskine: Shout out to the PAX this morning.  Everybody gave 100 percent.  Steel and speed sound cool, but they are tough if you do it right.  I think we did it right.

That’s my last workout before Asheville.  It has been a journey since last year, full of a couple of injuries, a lot of hills, a ton of fellowship, and plenty of fun.  But in the end there is progress for each of us.  I appreciate all the guys who have made the journey with me and wish you all speed, steel, and grit on that mountain.
