IW x 10

Mountain Climber x 10

So this is where I attempted an 8-count man-maker (learned from Adolphus) pyramid, and failed. It is hard enough keeping up with the cadence count on successive 8-count man-makers. When you combine that with trying to keep up with the pyramid count, it was too much for my brain. Had to call an audible, followed by a few laughs, so we completed 15, 8-count man-makers. Good enough I think.

The Thang with Emphasis on Form

We slowed it down a bit to focus on form, which admittedly felt odd, being it was the Vortex.

Pax lined up up on the end line.

Walking lunge to the 18 – 15 slow count merkins,

Walking lunge to the half – 10 slow count merkins

Walking lunge to the far end line – 5 slow count merkins

Run back to the start – plank and then low hold plank for 10 count.

Completed the same sequence as above, except replaced the walking lunge with a squat/broad jump movement. Replaced merkins with Carolina dry docks. At the finish, we completed 20 one-legged squats on the fence (10 each leg).

We did another sequence here with 10 diamond merkins (40 total) at each line – but I can’t remember the mode of travel – bear crawl maybe?

Completed same sequence as above (added the 18 line as a stop at the far end to break it up). Traveled with either (gave Pax the option) crab walk or traveling burpee. Replaced dry docks with wide grip merkins (10 at each stop – 40 total).

As to not miss out on cardio all together, we finished with a full a field, all out suicide, stopping and returning at the 18, half, 18 and far end.

Mary

With 30 seconds remaining we only had time for one thing.

Russian Hammers x 10 (slowed down for good form)

Bushwood has said numerous times, “form is overrated” – there may be some truth in this. I did question my decision to slow us down and not maintain the Assisi/Vortex tempo at its normal high level. I’m sure there is a perfect balance – the perfect mix of speed and form. We’ll keep trying.
