Lost a PAX!

January 6, 2018

WHEN: 01/06/2018
QIC: Rambler
PAX: Beanbag, Breach, Doi, Golden Pinky, Gomer, Rebar, RG3, Stinky Pete

Yet another below-freezing morning greeted YHC this AM. After a week of these temps, I thought that the fartsack might overpower most of the PAX. Much to my pleasant surprise, a total of 9 PAX and 2 canine companions were ready to trounce through Briar Chapel.

The Thang:

Knowing that the roads would still be frosted with a nice layer of ice here and there, YHC planned to take the entire group to the trails, winding around Briar Chapel counterclockwise until we came upon the newest phase of development, south of Constellation Park. Feeling energized, YHC took off a decent clip, heading down the northern parkway and immediately cutting off to the trails, where the pace slowed a bit, the chatter died down, and we marched.

Unfortunately, do to a series of mishap and misadventure, 37 minutes after taking to the trail it was discovered that we had lost RG3, or vice versa. Turns out he had an equipment malfunction early on and the communication was not 100% clear as to when to turn off from the gravel road to the trails.  By the time the equipment was sorted, the rest of us had turned onto the trails, all heads down focused on not making a misstep. A few texts and cell phone calls later cleared everything up and we headed back toward the launch point to regroup.

It was interesting to walk through the new phase. We all are still in awe of just how big Briar Chapel is and will be.  The rest of the ruck was incident-less, thankfully!

“A thousand candles can be lit by a single candle and yet not diminish the first candle’s light. Happiness is never diminished by being shared.”  — Things Buddha Never said

YHC’s quote of the day gave me the above, attributed to Buddha. While a bit of research tells us that he never said it, it’s a valuable idea, nonetheless. Positivity and negativity are contagious.  Be that beacon of light/positivity/encouragement to those around you!
