It’s Election Season

September 5, 2017

WHEN: 09/05/2017
QIC: Boucher
PAX: Sweater Vest, Doogie, Pre-K, Soda Popinski, Cardiac

YHC has been meaning to find a Q opportunity, and when Sweats was looking for a Q, YHC jumped in.  One of YHC’s most vivid memories of The Big Dance (and there have been many) was on the infamous election day 2016 when we had day two of the Durham Dirty Dozen and there was an “epic”(!?) confrontation with Riggs and a passionate about parking polling volunteer (word on the campaign trail is that there is audio recording of this encounter) …it’s all good though as it ended in muffins.

YHC wanted to show the Pax who braved the “Sweat-less” The Big Dance with an exercise in city election season.

We started with a fellowship pace jog through the Forest Hills Neighborhood.  We wanted to spend time with the constituents and we noted that the neighborhood is in need of some quality lighting.

Warm up –

We found an isolated corner and proceeded to warm up with

  • SSH IC x 20
  • Hillbillies IC x 20
  • Merkins IC x 20
  • Arm Circles (Forward & Backward) x 10
  • Willie Mays Hayes IC x 10

The Thang –

We then proceeded back to the parking lot at Forest Hills Park and proceeded to the play ground.  We paired up in 3 sets of 2 (running mates) and did three circuits of the following –

  • Australian Pull ups x 25
  • Kettle Bell Swings x 25 /partner air squats
  • Traveling Erkins, Derkins, Toe taps along the low wall and back
  • Pull ups x 10
  • Carolina Dry Docks x 25 / Lunge Jumps x 25

Once the Pax completed these three cycles, we proceeded to the tennis courts for a Town Hall Meeting.

To simulate the pain of being berated by your constituents, one candidate had to do a People’s Chair, while their respective running mates performed Balls to the Wall.  This was misery for each candidate.  The two-somes were reliant on each other and only as strong as the weakest link.  When the first individual dropped down, that group had to do 10 burpees, the second group to drop out had two do 5 burpees and the last group standing had none.  Like any good campaign battle there was some lies, manipulation, and…pain?  The candidates switched positions and repeato…

Mary –

We then proceeded back to the parking lot to allow for democracy – each Pax got to vote for a core exercise for Mary –

  • Flutter Kicks x 30
  • American Hammers x 20
  • WWIIs x 15
  • Parker Peters (focus on stretch and form) x 20
  • Tuck position abs tight (Cardiac Special) ~ 5 mins
  • Ski Abs x 20

The election results left something to be desired as there wasn’t any clear winner…only beat down Pax.
