Fighting thru the gloom to focus on 2/20

When Sweats put out the call yesterday that the Q Sheet had an opening, YHC jumped at the chance to lead the brave souls that came to #TheBigDance.  In thinking of a thematic approach to the Q Plan, the date 2/20 kept resonating.  YHC has been wanting to do a work out that was high on sets, low on the reps…and this 2/20 approach would have to work as a middle ground.

The GLOOM was in full force this morning.  The Fog was thick and YHC was almost late due to being stuck behind a particularly defensive driver, who would not drive faster than 20 miles per hour…nevertheless, YHC arrived to some solid MumbleChatter led by the EH Specialist Happy Gilmore.

Warmup

When YHC Qs #TheBig Dance he likes to lead a leisurely warm up run through the lovely Forest Hills Neighborhood.  As referenced above, it was particularly gloomy and YHC got a little turned around.  When 2-Ply pointed out that notorious Durham Husband, Mike Peterson lived in a house we were running by…YHC, felt we should try to head back to the park.

YHC led the pax to do the following:

Backward Run 2 sets of 20 strides

High Knees 2 sets of 20 strides

Butt kickers 2 sets of 20 strides

Karaoke Right 20 strides/Karaoke 20 strides

We found a lighted area to circle up and YHC stated the theme for the day:  We would be doing 2 sets of 20 reps of every exercise for the day.

SSH x 20 x 2

Imperial Walker x 20 x 2

Willie Mays Hayes x 20 x 2

Arm Circles x 20 x 2 (forward and backwards)

Mosey back to the Tennis courts via the back entrance

The Thang

We lined up at one end of the tennis courts…and commenced on 2/20

20 OYO Burpees at one end of the tennis courts, then sprint to the other end for 20 OYO Burpees, sprint back and plank until the 6 finishes up.

20 Jump Squats (on YHC “UP”), then bear crawl 20 strides (using “Sweats Form” keeping your knees close to the ground and focusing on your core), then mosey to the far end of the courts. 20 Jump Squats (on YHC “UP”), then bear crawl 20 strides (using “Sweats Form”), then mosey to the far end of the courts, then plank until the 6 finishes up.

20 merkins, then broad jump 20 jumps, mosey to far end.  20 merkins, then broad jump 20 jumps, mosey to far end.  Peoples chair until all pax are back.

20 tuck jumps (on YHC “UP”), then gorilla walk 20 jumps, then mosey to the far end and plank. 20 tuck jumps (on YHC “UP”), then Gorilla Walk 20 jumps, then mosey to the far end and plank.

20 Carolina Dry Docks, then 20 lunge walk strides…then mosey to far end. 20 Carolina Dry Docks, then 20 lunge walk strides…then mosey to far end and peoples chair until the six finishes.

20 Homer to Marges, then 10 travelling merkins right, then 10 travelling merkins left, then mosey to far end.  20 Homer to Marges, then 10 travelling merkins right, then 10 travelling merkins left, then mosey to far end.
