Feeling Chipper!

September 28, 2017

WHEN: 09/28/2017
QIC: Rambler
PAX: Beanbag, Bright Idea, Goatcheese, Grizwald, GTL

YHC was relegated to a solo EC Ruck…but only for a brief moment. After a quick call home, perhaps inspired by spectating at the previous weekend’s Spartan Race, YHC’s M headed out with a weighted vest and joined for the duration.

Waiting at the AO were 5 PAX, ready to do what they must: move heavy stuff many times over.

Warmup:
SSH x20 IC
Imperial Walker x10 IC
Merkins x15 IC
Arm Circles x10 IC
Reverse Arm Circles x10 IC

The Thang:
YHC and crew set up stations in preparation for 30 minutes of unadulterated grind via a Chipper. 50 reps at each station really brought the point home of ‘chipping away at it’. Instructions were simple: 50 reps OYO, maintaining good form versus ripping through them as fast as possible.

Stations:
Tire sledge hammers
Overhead 45# plate walking lunges
Cinder block curl
115# one arm suitcase deadlift
95# overhead press
50# kettlebell swings
30# kettlebell clean & press
30# overhead tricep press
Dip station

Mary:
Standing forward-bend toe touch
Plank
Plank to low lunge each side

COT:
Thoughts for Fatcat as he heals up from his Spartan Race injury. Thankful that surgery is not required nor a cast. YHC relayed a quote from the great one:
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” -Ahhhhnuld
Get comfortable in the struggle and realize that the journey and learning from struggle/failure is where the true growth occurs. Keep that in mind when assisting others, especially youth, who too often are taught that failure is bad when in fact it’s a necessary part of growth. YHC continues to be honored to lead these men and workout alongside them in our collective effort of self-improvement.
