Day On

January 15, 2018

WHEN: 01/15/2018
QIC: Buffay
PAX: Buffay, Hightower, Nickelback, Pusher

The temperature dropped to a frosty 16 degrees, but YHC knew that the nearly 50 degree drop in temp from just three mornings prior would not prevent the PAX from showing up.  YHC was right.

YHC arrived to the AO at 5:29 with 3 PAX waiting patiently.  One of those PAX included Nickelback, with a 30 pound ruck, seemingly permanent in place, and icicles in his beard.  Time to thaw out.

WARM-UP:

PAX moseyed to the traffic circle: SSH x 20; LBAC’s x 10 – Reverse x 10, WMH x 10, and IWs x 10 (all cadence count)

THE THANG:

Blood pumping, YHC announced that we would take a scenic tour of the Waterstone neighborhood, and more importantly, every 5 minutes we would stop whatever we were doing and complete 5 Burpees OYO.

PAX moseyed to the giant hill running parallel to the neighborhood.  Previously, Pusher announced that his most hated exercise was Bear Crawl.  YHC obliged, and the PAX performed a .5 mile uphill Bear Crawl.

Once at the top of the hill, PAX moved right into Traveling Burpees to the next stop sign.

Crab Walk to next light post, Gorilla Walk to next light post, and Inchworm to final light post.

It was truly impressive to watch Nickelback work through each animal motion with his ruck squarely on his back.  Important to note that at this point, Pusher apparently made the call that he now preferred Bear Crawl over Gorilla Walk.  Noted Pusher.

PAX moseyed to small playground.  Pairs split off: 2 PAX performed Irkins on a bike rack and 2 PAX performed 30 Dips on bench.  PAX performing Dips were the timer.  Rotate once.

PAX moseyed to the infamous bridge of Human Canopy, but no time for Canopy.

MARY:

Russian Hammers x 15, Flutterkicks x 15, LBCs x 15, and Box Cutters x 15 (all cadence count)

COT:

PAX gathered and gave updates for the New Year.  Prayers for Hightower’s father and Pusher and Nickelback’s family.

PAX took time to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.  Recognized important dates of 1953 (Montgomery Bus Boycott), 1964 (Passing of Civil Rights Act), and 1965 (Passing of Voting Rights Act), and the tireless efforts that civil rights leaders like Dr. King, and all those unnamed foot soldiers for justice, shown during the Civil Rights Movement.  PAX recognized that this is a Day On not a Day Off and the importance of taking the energy and motivation we gather each morning to our families, friends, work, and all of our spaces, to do good each and every day.
