Dad Bod Beach Workout, Bullpen Style

YHC happened to be headed to the beach this afternoons, so Google’d beach-related back blasts. Hat tip to Meter Maid in Memphis for the chance to adapt his Dad Bod Beach Workout.

WARM UP:

  • Windmills x 15
  • WMH x 10
  • LBACs x 12 x reverse
  • “Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys (SSH, Burpees on “Vibrations”)

THE THANG:

Tried to leave ‘the house’, got a block away and someone forget something, so we turned around and headed back to the ranch. Somehow found ourselves in the shed and PAX were instructed to grab the beach gear (aka cinder blocks) or have the 2.0s on their backs (aka ruck packs).

Dora 1-2-3 Remix:

  • 50 Baby Throws (aka overhead presses with coupons)
  • 100 Double Fisters (aka curls with coupons)
  • 150 Ease-into-the-Oceans (aka squats while holding coupon)

PAX 1 executes as many reps as possible while PAX 2 carries everything to the car (i.e. the white truck at the other end of the parking lots), then returns to get something M asked for (aka run back to PAX 1 with coupon). Flip, and then repeat until team goal is reached.

Now we’re late leaving, so need to hustle. Pass a lot of traffic (aka Indian Run) to Motorco.

2.0 has to use the bathroom (5 burpees)

Arrive at Beach Condo (aka Motorco):

  • Climb the Condo Steps (Bench Step Ups) x 20
  • Fix the Broken Sink (Australian pull ups) x 20
  • Hot Concrete (aka High Knees) x 20
  • Ease-into-the-Pools (aka Dips) x 20
  • Dunk and Throw the Kids (aka Jump Squats) x 20

Finally Get to Beach (aka Park Grass)

  • Chillax on backs, and behind heads for a few seconds, then introduce the “Daddy, Wake Up! Where Are Your 2.0s?!?” exercise. When YHC yelled “Dad!” (irregular timing), PAX raised up their backs and turned torso left and then right (with hands still behind head). Several PAX had a chance to imitate their 2.0s.
  • Run to bottom of hill, Weenie Roast suggested that we should look for shells on the beach, so PAX Bear Crawl or Gorilla Crawl back up hill. Overheard: “Hey, there are actually shells here.”
  • Jump the Waves (aka Tuck Jumps) x 20

Begin to mosey back home.

Flat tire on car: 5 burpees.

Threepeat has dirty diaper: 5 more burpees.

Get home and Weenie Roast again observes that beach chairs have sand in them and need to be shaken out (aka Tricep Press with cinder blocks x 25). YHC says he can’t wait for the inaugural Weenie Roast Q.

MARY:

  • “Recliners of Fire” = PAX laid on their backs with legs lifted about 6 inches and back raised about 6 inches, go ’round the horn for 3 counts each
  • “Nap / Dream of Fire” = Imagine a leisurely bike ride on the boardwalk (aka Freddie Mercuries) at 3, then 2 per PAX.
  • Weenie Roast has us plank out for 30 seconds until 6:15p bell rings.

PRAYER:

  • Cool J’s mom (Harriet) is out of the hospital, prayers for recovery
  • Beta Max is looking for a business coach to get himself back on track
