Cardiac’s Anatomy Lesson

September 21, 2017

WHEN: 09/21/2017
QIC: Cardiac
PAX: Floyd, Mr. Narwhal, Slow Pitch, Fallwell, Weed-n-feed, Snots, Amphibious, Manatee (FNG), Cardiac

1 FNG joined us this morning thanks to the EH from Boucher.  We gave a quick overview of F3 and the disclaimer.  7:25 and Boucher did not appear to be coming to his FNG’s rescue.  So we spent about 5 minutes discussing the appropriate F3 term for the situation, and Floyd confirmed it to be Emotional Fartlocking.

Warmup:

Lap around the peanut

17x SSH

10x good mornings

10x Willie Mays Hayes (FNG self described to be from Florida and working at UNC sports administration)

20x arm circles

10x overhead claps

5x burpees

The Thang:

Find a medium to large size rock, run to the soccer field with rocks over heads.  Deposit rock at the soccer goal while the Q started the anatomy lesson.  The cardiovascular system of the human body is really an amazing thing, so to help the PAX understand it I designed an entire workout that mimicked the flow of blood through the body.  The 4 corners of the goalie box acted as the 4 chambers of the heart (RA, RV, LA, LV) and the lungs lived near midfield of the soccer field.  We started our journey in the lungs with rich oxygenated blood.  Since we were so burdened with extra oxygen we duck walked from the lungs to the LA.  Where the blood collects from the lungs (we did a low squat hold).  Then we moved to the LV where the heavy lifting happens and blood is sent throughout the body (we did 20 rock burpees [the first time through]).  Then the blood needed to travel through the body (we ran the perimeter of half the field with rocks over head).  Blood returns from the body to the RA (where we did some more low squat holds).  The blood then goes to the RV where some moderately heavy lifting happens to get the blood to the lungs (we did 20x lung jumps).  Then since the blood was low and oxygen and desperately needed from oxygen we sprinted back to the lungs.  At which point we were allowed a 10 count to catch our breath and get ready to go again.

2 more cycles were completed with exercises more focused on the arms (low plank hold, rock burpees, plank hold, and merkins).

This this point the workout kinda fell apart, we did some sprints and some Mary, took our rocks back to their home, then the Q realized we still had some extra time so we did more burpees until we ran out of time.

FNG naming:  much of the focus was on Florida (manatee, gator, Seminoles) then someone wanted farmer fran (waterboy boucher reference).  Manatee was chosen before the names degraded any further.

COT:  Prayers for Weed-n-feed and Cardiac both have impending baby due dates within weeks.
