Burping the Baby

February 19, 2018

WHEN: 02/19/2018
QIC: Golden Pinky
PAX: Boyardee, Dueling Banjos, Fieri, Flenderson, Griswold, Marky Mark, Skynyrd, Zook

YHC welcomed his first 2.0 into the world 22 days ago — an incredible, life-changing event. For his VQ (another incredible, life-changing event), YHC figured the entire PAX would enjoy sharing in some of the newly discovered “greatest hits” of fatherhood YHC has experienced thus far: burping the baby, celebrating the departure of in-laws after a week-long visit, and running around directionless just looking for something that will make the baby stop crying.

Also, YHC remembered his first F3 experience — a delightful Coco Q at The Wall in late November last year. At this fateful post, where “Golden Pinky” was born, the PAX performed a total of 124 burpees. Perhaps it was a strange case of Stockholm Syndrome, but it only seemed fitting that the PAX would top this number today, on YHC’s VQ, and perform a total of 125 burpees (100 Burp & Merks + 25 Hand-Release Burpees).

Four PAX entered into what is becoming a regularly soggy Monday gloom to take a pleasant EC vest jog around the neighboring streets near The Thicket before reconvening at the AO for a couple rounds of sprints across the parking lot. Two more PAX joined them for several rounds of EC pullups. Meanwhile, one lone PAX braved the elements for a 45-minute EC ruck.

After all of the EC activities commenced, 9 PAX were present for the Main Event.

BOM

YHC has been the self-proclaimed king of “tomorrow” most of his life. Whether it is dieting, exercising, being a better husband, or tackling a project at work, YHC would always vow to take care of it “tomorrow.” The problem about living for tomorrow is the assumption that tomorrow has been promised to us. After the events in the last week, first with the tragedy in the latest school shooting in Florida and then with the tragic news of the life lost at the GORUCK Heavy event in Fort Bragg, YHC has once again been reminded that, in fact, tomorrow is not promised to us. So, don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Be the best husband, father, son and friend you can be today, because you might not get the chance tomorrow.
