Back to School

August 28, 2017

WHEN: 08/28/2017
QIC: Marky Mark
PAX: Boyardee, Canyouhearmenow?, Chef Tell, Chum, Cousin Vinny, Closer, Duplo, ET, Fieri, Germ, Goat Cheese, Griswold, Grunge, ICE, Link, Manwell, Nescafe, Nitro, Pepsi, Rambler, Sneaky Shoes, Stinky Pete

The first day of school brings a mix of emotions for the PAX. Above all else, YHC detected the prevailing sentiment of urgency on this Monday morning – to complete the workout and get home ASAP to get the 2.0s ready and off to school. It’s because of that tight schedule that it’s understandable that many familiar faces did not post this morning, but the PAX that did were treated to an urgent pace and a QIC mindful of the need for a timely finish and prompt exit.

There were those who triple-posted (Ruck, Spartan, Main Event), those who doubled up, and the traditionalists who just came for the Main Event. In total, 24 PAX came to The Thicket.

WARMUP
Arm Circles – Forward
Arm Circles – Backward

“Bleed It Out” – Great song for wake up and warm up. And QIC has wanted to do a Chester Bennington tribute in the gloom. Rapid-fire SSH throughout the song, with burpees every time you hear the title.

MAIN EVENT

Run up to Great Meadow for a fast-paced version of Four Corners.

Corner 1: Merkins
Corner 2: Jump Squats
Corner 3: Imperial Walkers
Corner 4: Burpees

Reps of 5 at first lap, 10 on 2nd, 15 on 3rd, 20 on 4th. Fellow PAX chose the means of travel between corners, which included bear crawl, lunge walk, crab walk, and sprints. The objective was speed, so there was little time for breathers or idle chatter.

COT

The message of the day is not an original one, but a fitting one for today. Be Present. Parenting is hard and we don’t always know if we’re doing or saying the right thing to our 2.0s. But one thing we can do without fail is be present. And that counts for a lot more than we think. Along those same lines, F3 workouts are hard. The fartsack is a mighty obstacle to overcome when coupled with our busy lives. But just being present in the gloom is the most important step and is always worthwhile.
