Leaving work, I was excited for my first PM workout in over two years, and I was anxious to see who would show up for my first workout at the Afterburn. I battled traffic from work and finally entered the Bull City Running parking lot a few minutes late. As I swerved the car around into a free space, I saw Choo Choo standing by the Bull City entrance. He was alone, stretching, and waiting for someone else to arrive. This ended up being only a two-man excursion north on the ATT. We ran roughly a mile north and then headed right to run through the trails of the Woodlake Community. With Choo Choo at this point being a wise sage of all things Spartan, I decided to question him on our 5-mile run about all the tips and tricks he had discovered during past events. We covered shoes, socks, running strategies, obstacle strategies, hydration, nutrition, Floyd-isms, etc. We kept a good pace over the five miles but still enjoyed good fellowship.
I truly wish I had the ability to make to the Afterburn more often. Dinner has never tasted so good.
Choo Choo – Best of luck as you continue to rehab the injury, buddy!
