A little challenge from peers always produces results

June 19, 2018

WHEN: 06/18/2018
QIC: Sodapopinski
PAX: Two Face, LaLa, Tugboat, Snowman, Dial Up, Juco, Shake It, Bushwood, Amphibious, Green Egg, Driftwood, Sawtooth, Jimmy Nuetron, Roach, Alamo(FNG), Tater Tot, SalPal, Toolbox, Banana Split, Chester, Funny Money, Sodapopinski(QIC)

It had been some time since my last Q(January) at Devil’s Ridge and this day brought some warmer temps so we were not going to repeat the Q from last time in the parking deck.  Several PAX were out for Juco/Shake It led EC which probably included some pull ups and I believe Tater Tot went on a solo ruck as well.  I was challenged in some way by Shake It as he stated the night before “this better be good” so off we went.

Warmup

SSH x 32

IW x 10

Hillbilly x 10

WMH x 10

LBAC x 12

Reverse x 12

Slow Merkins x 15

The Thang

We moseyed as a group over to the big hill which leads up towards the baseball fields and Cameron.

Our form of transportation was via Bear crawl all the way up to the Blue emergency light.  Low squat hold until the six makes it there.

Mosey over to the track where we would partner up.  With your partner you would perform different variations of Merkins at each turn.  Sprint in between the merkin stations.

Turn 1 Slow Merkins x 5

Turn 2 Diamond Merkins x 10

Turn 3 Wide Grip Merkins x 15

Turn 4 Standard Merkins x 20

We would repeat this except in reverse order but this time running backwards in between.

Turn 1 Standard Merkins x 20

Turn 2 Wide Grip Merkins x 15

Turn 3 Diamond Merkins x 10

Turn 4 Slow Merkins x 5

The PAX were feeling it at this point as we just completed 100 merkins total on the track.  We would mosey over to the West entrance to Wallace Wade Outdoor Stadium.  Staying with your partner the goal was to complete one lap around the circle.  One partner would bear crawl while the other ran and try to catch them.  Once the partners caught up to each other you were to complete 5 Boo Ya Merkins.  Continue until you completed 1 lap with your partner.

We still had 12 minutes to spare so continuing the theme of Bear crawling one partner would bear crawl while the other did 5 burpees.  Once the burpees were done run to your partner and switch.  The goal was to get to the end of the row of Crape Myrtles along Bassett Dr. but time would not allow and we had to get back to the parking lot for some Mary.

Mary

When all of the six made it back to the lot they were all suprised by the next exercise I called was SSH.  We would complete 31 more totaling 63 for the day.  This was dedicated to Tommy Fleetwood’s US Open tying low round of 63 that he shot in the final round on Sunday at Shinnecock Hills.

Bushwood was nice enough to take us out with 50 Flutter Kicks.

COT

DR is always one of the more challenging but rewarding sites for me in Churham.  I loved the challenge set forth from a little trash talking to Shake It after Juco gave us a beat down the previous Friday.  Thank you to both of these men for always inspiring me to do better!

Prayers went out to Abagail SalPal’s friend who is in search of a job and Justice and his family as they go through a tough time.
